The Institute will conduct a one-day case law seminar in May in San Francisco and Long Beach to examine current trends in case law and to discuss appropriate negotiation and defense strategies for claims personnel, attorneys, hearing reps, and others workers’ compensation professionals.
Once again, CWCI General Counsel Mike McClain is coordinating the program, the latest in the Institute’s case law seminar series that began ten years ago. In addition to reviewing recent decisions, the upcoming program will offer workers’ comp claims and legal professionals a fresh look at case law in light of ongoing issues related to reform implementation, including apportionment, utilization review, and permanent disability determination.
The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following locations:
Tuesday, May 6 The Grand Long Beach Event Center, Long Beach
Thursday, May 8 The Grand Hyatt Hotel, San Francisco
The program is designed for claims administrators, attorneys, hearing representatives, and others with negotiating authority, and has been approved for Continuing Education Units for attorneys. The Institute also will provide certificates of attendance upon completion of the program for submission to the Association of Hearing Representatives of California and for the verification of hours for those in need of credit for the California Department of Insurance workers’ compensation claims adjuster and bill reviewer certification requirements.
The cost, including seminar materials, morning coffee service and lunch, is $395 for nonmembers, $295 for CWCI member company employees (see the back of the registration form). Please note: space is limited, so preregistration is required. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The enclosed flyer includes further details and a registration form.
