CWCI Analyzes The Impact Of The Proposed Formulary

Summary: With five months to go before the January 1 effective date for the California Workers’ Compensation Prescription Drug Formulary mandated by AB 1124, the DWC is wrapping up its work on the regulations and the Institute has released an analysis that reviews the potential impact of the proposed Formulary Drug List.

Using a sample of 650,000 California workers’ compensation prescriptions with 2016 fill dates, the analysis shows that more than 30 percent of the prescription drugs dispensed to injured workers last year are on the proposed Formulary’s Exempt Drug List and will no longer require authorization prior to dispensing.  More details are in the Newsroom, and CWCI members and subscribers may log in to view the summary Bulletin and the Spotlight Report on the study, which is posted in the Research section.

CWCI will be hosting a training webinar for the new Drug Formulary on October 4, 2017.  Check here for details!
