CWCI, CalChamber, & CCWC File Amicus Brief In Stevens

Summary: The California Workers’ Compensation Institute, the California Chamber of Commerce, and the California Coalition of Workers’ Compensation (CCWC) have filed a joint amicus brief in Stevens v. WCAB, the long-running court case that challenged the constitutionality of the Utilization Review/Independent Medical Review (UR/IMR) process used to resolve California workers’ compensation medical disputes.

The amicus brief was filed in support of the defendant in the case after the WCAB issued a Decision After Remittitur last month that invalidated the 2009 Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule Guidelines applicable to the case rather than remanding the case for a new independent medical review.  A news release on the amicus filing is in the Newsroom, and the amicus brief can be downloaded by clicking here.
